About TeachNet Ireland
The TeachNet Ireland project provides professional development and support to teachers in Irish primary and post primary schools to enable them publish online curriculum resources to the wider teaching public. To date the project has published over 200 online curriculum units and these are available free of charge through the www.teachnet.ie website. St. Patrick’s College, Drumcondra hosts the project in Ireland and the main project sponsors are The Citigroup Foundation with further sponsorship from the Ireland Funds, Microsoft and the National Centre for Technology in Education.TeachNet has recently expanded to include the Microsoft Innovative Teachers Programme. This development will help to involve more teachers around the country in the creation of curriculum resources and will specifically help build capacity among teachers to publish their resources online. In addition to the TeachNet and Innovative Teacher websites, TeachNet provides webspace to teachers to directly publish and maintain their curriculum based websites.

The Technology Solution
As the amount of educational content developed by teachers grows, and as more schools come online and use TeachNet, it is vital that we have reliable and flexible technology partners such as Microsoft and Novara. “With the imminent roll-out of broadband to all schools this project will take on an even greater significance with teachers seeking Irish curriculum resources,” says John Hurley of TeachNet. Novara continues to provide us with the hosting and administration services to allow us to develop and expand our educational services, support and content to schools throughout Ireland in a cost efficient and reliable manner.
